Librarian Key Skills
Key skills a Service Librarian should have include:
- clear communication skills, especially in writing;
- critical thinking skills;
- database and online searching skills;
- interviewing skills - to compensate for lack of visual and auditory cues;
- knowledge of reference resources;
- familiarity with software packages selected; and
- multi-tasking.
Technical Proficiency
The Service Librarians should be proficient in searching all the databases available in the Library. In addition, they will be proficient in all the Library software products, including, but not limited to, Asana, LibAnswers, and any University of Phoenix-approved software used in the Library.
Training Updates
We will provide training as necessary, and Librarians can request training to update key skills.
