How to Use First Research

You can search or browse for industry profiles and reports in the following ways:

  • Enter your keywords one at a time in the Search Term box at the bottom of the screen. Once you have finished adding keywords (when you click Add, they will appear above the search box), select the View Results box in the top right of the screen to find reports on specific industries and industry sectors.
  • Enter your NAICS industry code into the D & B Hoovers Industries search box. Once you have selected an industry or sector, click View Results in the top right of the search screen to find reports.
  • Select the Browse link beside the D & B Industries search box to find your industry. When you find the broader industry, click on it to open a list of industry sectors. Check the box next to the sector you need and click submit. On the next screen, click on View Results to see reports.
    • Tip: Remove any search terms you have added previously, or your View Results button will be greyed out and unusable.
  • Select the Browse Industry Categories tab at the top of the screen, then use the Industry Browse Tree to choose an industry. Clicking on the arrow to the left of an industry will open a list of industry sectors below. Click on the name of the industry sector you need to open a profile page with links to an industry overview, industry description, quarterly updates, and more in-depth information.
    • Tip: When you're on an industry profile page, you can find different industry information categories in the profile menu (which should be on the left in most browsers).

Library Hacks
