BIO/410: Genetics

girl smiling
Cloning is the process of copying a sequence of DNA for study. DNA is fragmented using digestion with restriction endonucleases, in which an enzyme cuts specific nucleic acids, leaving sticky ends that can be reattached. Using gel electrophoresis, specific parts can be separated and then transported to a bacteria cell with a vector.
