Abraham Maslow took the human-centered approach to motivation. In 1954, he published his theory on the hierarchy of needs. His idea was that employees have a range of needs that have to be met in order for a productive and content worker.

Albert Bandura's work provides insight into how social forces influence individuals and groups. From his early Bobo doll experiments to phobias and self-efficacy, Bandura has given researchers a sense of how people actively shape their own lives and those of others.
